M.I.E.S. is operated by Dr Stephen Jarvis who has extensive experience in survey design, survey execution and data analysis. He has over sixteen years’ experience in identifying aquatic invertebrates and has been Laboratory Manager for two leading survey companies.

The consultancy is unusual in offering meiofauna analysis (0.063 mm mesh) as well as the usual macrofaunal analyses (1.0 or 0.5 mm mesh).  Dr. Jarvis has a Ph.D. (University of Wales, Bangor) in meiofaunal ecology and a Natural History Museum (London) IdQ certification for the identification of harpacticoid copepods.

Furthermore he has attended nine technical workshops dealing with the identification of many invertebrates and also with meiofaunal sample analysis techniques.  He has co-authored three technical reports and two peer - reviewed papers
